Fry the onion and garlic in oil until onion turn golden brown.
Add the tomatoes, spices, salt, pepper and 1 cup of the from either pinto beans. Simmer for 5 min.
Add the cornmeal, cook slowly for least 1 hour.(If you want to use meat ; fry 400g ground meat with onions and garlic, drain the fat , and follow the recipe.
