Taro Tumbles 里いものにっころがし

Today’s Japanese Cooking Style is called Taro Tumbles or 里いものにっころがし in Japanese. This is a very simple dish to make and a great snack or side if you wish. Enjoy Let’s get started with what we need to make our Taro Tumbles, shall we.
  • 400g Japanese Taro
  • 1 cup dashi stock
  • 1½ tbsp sake
  • 1½ tbsp mirin
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1½ soy sauce

  1. Wash the taros in cold water, and peel.
  2. Place the stock, sake, mirin, sugar, soy sauce and taro’s in a pot, and simmer.
  3. When the taros in the pot become tender, shake the pot while still simmering so that taros tumble around.
  4. Arrange the taros in a bowl.
